Traditional Upholstery Workshop Classes

About

In 1979 Dave Butler served a 4 year apprenticeship with A.E Chatman, North London. During his apprenticeship he worked at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and many other royal palaces. At the age of 17 Dave attained 3rd place competing for the national Francis Vaughan Award of the Association of Master Upholsterers. After finishing his apprenticeship Dave moved to Kent and worked from Sevenoaks, Brasted and Oxted. During this time Dave specialised working with leather and much of his work was completed for City of London Corporation. In 2009 Dave flew to Moscow to work with a team of upholsterers at the British Residency. Now retired, Dave is keen to pass on his significant knowledge by teaching small classes from his workshop in Riverhead.
